Red Oak Campus Renovation Phase 1
Project Overview
In November 2022, the Leadership Council approved renovations to the Red Oak campus to support several student needs going into the 2023-24 school year. As part of this renovation, North Shore Academy Elementary will move from its current space in Northbrook to the Rubloff Building on campus. Additionally, the south end of the District Services Center will be renovated to develop four instructional spaces along with other improvements.
Construction will begin in the District Center in May and at the Rubloff building at the beginning of June. Both sites will be completed in August with students and staff starting in their new locations at the beginning of the 2023-24 school year.

Financial Responsibility: Why Now?
- An objective within the 2018-2022 Strategic Plan included a long-term facilities plan and study. The pandemic paused planning and TrueNorth restarted long-term facilities efforts in the Fall of 2021. At the same time, TrueNorth was notified that the owner of the building where North Shore Academy Elementary is located wished to end the lease agreement.
- As a cooperative, it is our fiscal responsibility to maximize the use of the buildings that we own.
- North Shore Academy Elementary is currently located in a leased space several miles from our main campus. We look forward to welcoming these learners to the Red Oak Campus so that learners from Kindergarten through Transition can more easily benefit from cooperative expertise and resources.
- With additional adult supports on campus, TrueNorth will be able to provide an even higher quality education for students. North Shore Academy Elementary students will now be next door to North Shore Academy and if flexible staffing is needed, it can be accomplished more quickly.
