Early Childhood

TrueNorth's Early Childhood Program provides educational services to preschool-aged children through inclusion support services, half-day and extended-day programs. The program design is based on best practices in assessment, intervention and service delivery for young children and their families.  In 2005, Early Childhood classrooms implemented the use of The Creative Curriculum and the new Teaching Strategies Gold to improve our ability to effect and measure student progress.

Each Early Childhood classroom is created as a child-centered environment that is joyful, energetic, and respectful and addresses the needs of the whole child. The children are taught and supported within a trans-disciplinary service model where the teacher, speech, occupational and physical therapists, nurse, school psychologists, assistive-technology consultant, and teacher assistants all work in tandem to maximize each child’s learning across all areas of  development.

Integral to the success of the Early Childhood Program are the partnerships that exist with families, member school districts, community preschools and agencies serving young children. TrueNorth Early Childhood staff works to ensure that the potential of all natural learning environments, such as home, community and inclusive and integrated settings, is reached for every young child with special needs.
