March 4: Creating a Meaningful Life in the Community: A Parent-Led Approach

Family University presents a fun and impactful event on March 4!

Join in person for Creating a Meaningful Life in the Community: A Parent-Led Approach. The session will take place on Wednesday, March 4 at 6:30 p.m. at TrueNorth.

If you are a family member working to design an adult life centered on self-direction and personal choice for your young adult with a disability, this session is for you. Join a panel of parents and providers from TotalLink to Community, Collaborative Community Housing Initiative, Our Place of New Trier Township, and A Happy Life to learn how families across the North Shore are working together to create innovative supports for their loved ones. Panelists will share how most people are using Home-Based Services funding to build customized lives rooted in community, purpose, and connection — and how they've navigated the challenges of limited resources.

You'll hear about:

  • Employment services and social and learning programs from TotalLink to Community
  • Collaborative housing efforts in Highland Park through Collaborative Community Housing Initiative (CCHI).
  • Flexible day programming at Our Place of New Trier Township
  • Life management services from a new parent-created case management agency, A Happy Life

Come be inspired and informed by families who are charting new paths and building futures that reflect the dreams, interests, and strengths of their adult children. Learn more and register today!
