The Parent Engagement Facilitator works collaboratively with parents, all TrueNorth and member-district personnel, and North Shore community partners to analyze and create information and practices that assist educators, parents, and communities to work closely together to improve schools, strengthen families, and increase student outcomes.
From Nicole Magesis, TrueNorth’s Parent Engagement Facilitator:
My name is Nicole Magesis (MA-guh-sis). I grew up in New York state and most recently lived in New Jersey. In February of 2021, my husband, two little girls and I moved to the North Shore to be closer to our extended family. I graduated from New York University with my Masters in Social Work in 2011. Over the last decade, I have worked as a case manager/social worker for children with disabilities and their families for New Jersey’s Special Child Health Services and the NJ Early Intervention System. When I am not working, I love to spend time with my family, read, cook, watch Miami Hurricanes football (Go Canes!) and play with my dog, Callie.
As I embark on this new role, I hope to bring my love for advocating, educating and supporting families to the TrueNorth community and our member districts. I am an avid researcher and believe that we should never stop learning. I look forward to collaborating with parents, staff and member districts!
